The fallibility of the human resembles the oscillations of a hum, an ever-existing string of compensations and contradictions. We exist with a motivation to justify what we are and what we want to become. In an eternal game of bolstering our strengths and purging our weaknesses, we break down the complex hum into the illusion of dilemmas. As a shared conflict engaged on individual fronts, the experience of violence demands pause for reflection. The day after is the consequence of this violence, where resentment subdues and regrets grow.

As a meditation on violence, The Day After explores the aftermath and its innumerable layers. TOSSAROSE collective assembles painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and installation into an examination of the individual conflicts translated by the artists. TOSSAROSE’s third exhibition returns to the collective studio space transformed into a ground for contemplation, discussion, and reflection. Departing from the conventions of the white box, we’ve created a unifying element where the diverse perspectives of TOSSAROSE artists can contend and refer to each other. Our intention is not to enumerate experiences of violence but rather to create a comprehensive consideration of this subject. A subject that exceeds the conventions of its terms: Violence, conflict, destruction, brutality etc. This unnameable concept, frequently romanticized by its extremes, is now spread out for us to pour over, in its prevalence, its normality, its indecipherable nature, and its multitudes.
